Hikvision Browser Plugin For Mac
This is the web plugin for Mac OS. After installation, you will be able to live view most of Hikvision DVR/IPC/Encoder on Safari for Mac. 1 Version: V3.0.6.23 build20180123. 2 Support Mac OS 10.8 or later version 3 Support Safari for Mac (Safari 8 or later version is recommended.) 4 Please close the web browsers while you are installing the plug-in. I downloaded Hikvision as well and no luck. On my computer it does show the device online in the settings but when I add it into “device for management” it cannot be accessed. I had a similar issue a couple years ago and fixed it by updating my IP address.
For the first time you access the IP camera or DVR/NVR, the Internet Explorer (IE8, 9, 10) need to be installed with ActiveX plugin. The ActiveX plugin can allow browser receive the video streaming from these IP devices. In order to Live View using Safari on MAC OS, the Hikvision web plug-in for MAC OS needs to be downloaded and installed. Note: Please close all web browsers before installing the web plug-in. To load webpages more quickly, save energy, and strengthen security, Safari is optimized for content that uses the HTML5 web standard, which doesn't require a plug-in. To enhance and customize your browsing experience, use Safari extensions instead of web plug-ins.
All IP cameras require a plugin to display their video stream in a web browser, and normally this poses no issue. The browser and camera will prompt you automatically to download and install the plugin when you try and view a live feed or, if you already have done so, will ask your permission to run the plugin.Safari on the other hand does not automatically do this when running on a Mac, and so requires you to download and install the plugin manually. For many of our customers who aren't aware of this, it appears to them that their camera simply doesn't work. Thankfully, it's a very quick and straightforward issue to remedy.
There are a couple of places you can download the plugin from:
- Hikvision's Overseas Website - On this site, you're after the file named 'Plug-in V3.0.5.26 build20150126 for Mac OS' (or a newer version). You may need to create an account to access the download, and so the below might be a preferable alternative.
- Hikvision's European Download Portal - This site provides a direct download to the same plugin as above. Of course, do ensure you're downloading the 'for macosx' file.

If the installation of ActiveX bar doesn't pop-up, then you need to change three ActiveX controls in your Internet Setting of IE.
Run the IE browser, go to 'Tools', then select 'Internet Options' to change your ActiveX controls.
Choose the 'Security' tab in 'Internet Options' menu, then you can change the security setting of IE.
Choose the 'Custom level...' in 'Security' tab
Now you can see the custom level shows ActiveX controls and plugins.
**For IE 9 or IE10 users only: For the first option, Allow ActiveX filtering, select Disable.
**For all users: Scroll down the ActiveX controls and plug-ins, and change below 3 values to 'Prompt':
- Download signed ActiveX controls (Should be ticked)
- Download unsigned ActiveX controls (Should be ticked)
- Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting (Should be ticked)
When done, click 'OK' and exit the Security Settings menu.
ActiveX in Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11
For both Internet Explorer (IE10) and IE11, you need to enable the compatible view. Run your IE browser, go to 'Tools', then select 'Compatibility View settings', it will pop-up a dialogue window.
Then, add your camera’s IP address (or domain) to the list of websites to be opened in Compatibility View.

General problems for IP camera
I don't know the LAN IP address for security camera:
Read the camera's manual, you can find the default IP address for IP camera. The other method is running IP camera search software to find the available IP cameras in your LAN network.
I can access the IP camera, but it's a blank page:
ActiveX plugins has not been installed in your browser, you need to install it before access the IP camera.
